What is GIS and why should you care?
GIS Is a computer system for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on earth’s surface. GIS can show many kinds of data on one map which allows researchers to analyze and understand patterns and relationships in human (voting, migration, water usage, etc.) and non-human (resource distribution, weather, seismic events, animal migration, etc.) behaviors.
